A Day with Oracle (Oracle CloudWorld Tour - Dubai)

Oracle stands as one of the oldest and most renowned high-tech firms, widely acknowledged for pioneering relational databases in the early days of technology in the last century. Notably, their influence extends to banking software solutions. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), their cloud platform, parallels giants like AWS and GCP, offering a comparable range of services. What sets OCI apart is its competitive pricing, making it an attractive option. The presence of multiple data centers in the Middle East, with two in Saudi Arabia and two in the UAE, enhances its appeal for time-sensitive applications, ensuring localized and efficient services for users in the region.

I was actually in the middle of one of their courses when the event invitation dropped in early November. The registration process was a breeze – done and dusted in under 5 minutes! It's clear Oracle values user-friendliness, not just in their learning materials but also in how they organize events.

What an adventure at the Oracle event in Dubai! On the 23rd of January at the World Trade Center, the excitement kicked off for a solid 9 hours. My journey from Abu Dhabi turned into a bit of a detour—I couldn't resist grabbing a jacket! πŸ˜„ Thank goodness for Dubai's stellar metro system, and lucky for me, the World Trade Center is one of the stops.

I rolled in fashionably late, missing the opening speech but snagging my badge pronto. No time to waste—I dove headfirst into the event. As an ML engineer, my focus was on the tech gems: GPU accelerators, end-to-end AI solutions, AI as a service, and all the latest in database adaptations. The buzz and insights were totally worth the commute! Here's to tech adventures and spontaneous jacket purchases!.

One standout presenter at the event was from Intel, delivering a clear, concise, and friendly presentation. They provided insights into Intel's strategic efforts to improve AI acceleration on their platforms, focusing on advancements in their Xeon processors and GPUs. The presentation explored the vast potential of Intel Cloud and shed light on Intel's CUDA equivalent, SYCLomatic. According to Intel, SYCLomatic is compatible with major frameworks including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Numba, and NumPy. The presenter effectively communicated Intel's vision for AI acceleration to the audience, making it accessible and engaging while also providing valuable information about Intel's evolving hardware and software solutions.

The Champions League football club was an exciting addition to the exhibition, and attendees, including myself, were delighted to take photos with it. A special thanks to the English lady who took my photo; her dedication was truly admirable. She insisted on getting the perfect shot and made several attempts (more than nine, to be exact). The final one turned out to be a gem, perfectly capturing the moment. Thank you for adding a magical touch to our experience! βœ¨πŸ˜πŸ“Έ

Oracle's AI services, including a unique chatbot with computer vision abilities, provide a compelling addition to their products. While the deepfake technology may not have made a great impression because to its simplicity, the emphasis on autonomous databases and MySQL Heatwaves is consistent with Oracle's long history and competence in databases. The emphasis on these technologies underscores Oracle's dedication to improving database systems, incorporating AI, and remaining at the forefront of innovation. As the market advances, Oracle continues to capitalize on its strengths, bringing a mix of traditional and cutting-edge technology to the forefront of their offerings.

I thoroughly enjoyed the event and had the opportunity to meet new people, which was truly amazing. I'd like to thank Oracle for organizing such a fantastic and well-executed gathering. The experience not only provided valuable insights into their technologies, but it also created an ideal environment for networking and making meaningful connections within the industryπŸŒŸπŸ‘.
